Company Overview

Argus Analyzers provides solutions that diagnose, monitor, and manage battery systems. From a single engine starting battery to a complex bank of batteries supporting mission critical applications, Argus' testing tools, battery monitors, battery instruments, and battery sensors provide critical battery health and performance data, extend battery life and increase system reliability.

The battery was invented more than 100 years ago. Today, with more than 20 million lead acid batteries being sold every year, batteries are everywhere, and depending on the application, battery performance can be a matter of convenience, profitability, safety, or survival. Yet there remains a glaring absence of affordable, accurate, and reliable diagnostic and monitoring tools to effectively inform technicians and owners of battery condition, and to alert them to impending failure and the need for proactive battery replacement.

In the face of industrial and consumer markets that are increasingly reliant on battery systems, this growing need led to the creation of Argus Analyzers. Based in Rhode Island, USA, Argus Analyzers is composed of an innovative team of scientists, engineers, and manufacturing and marketing professionals with over 60 combined years of experience in various battery power technology fields. Argus was established to address the growing demand for accurate, reliable information about battery health, with the goal of increasing the reliability of battery systems. Argus Analyzers is a privately held company with manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and China; product development, product marketing, and sales offices in the US; and sales offices in Europe. The Argus team has been developing Argus' test and monitoring technologies for 6 years. Argus products are sold globally through a network of distributors and dealers.

Argus Technology

Argus developed and patented two key innovations that power all of Argus' ground-breaking battery diagnostic, battery instrumentation and monitoring solutions. CrankCheck™, which is applied exclusively to engine starting applications, uses the actual starting sequence to evaluate battery performance and indicate the likelihood of a starting failure. Large Pulse Resistance™, a test applied to storage batteries, measures the internal resistance of the battery, effectively indicating its capacity.

Argus technologies have three key advantages over existing approaches to battery diagnostics and monitoring:

  • Crank-Check uses the duty load of the battery during the actual starting sequence to determine the battery's cranking strength for that specific load and to predict failure.
  • LPR testing can be performed while the battery is in use, providing faster, more accurate results, and enabling in-situ, real-time capability monitoring, providing highly accurate state of charge and state of health information.
  • LPR results are largely immune from alternator noise, electronic system noise, and noise from duty loads and chargers.

Argus Analyzers' suite of battery testing and monitoring solutions cost-effectively provides clear, accurate, and relevant information about the strength and remaining useful life of a battery, giving technicians and battery users the critical information they need to prevent costly and inconvenient battery failures.
